Benn Lock and Safe was established in 1977 with the vision of creating a proficient team dedicated to providing economical security installation services to protect properties in and around the Peterborough-Cambridge region. The business has thrived and grown organically, maintaining a sustainable service ethos—large enough to ensure reliability and robust communication with clients, yet not too big and cumbersome.
As a relatively small company, we have seamlessly adapted to technological advancements. Over the years, we have expanded our expertise to include access control (door entry systems), CCTV, and locksmith maintenance, managing locks and electronic systems on entrance doors for residential blocks and commercial buildings. Today, our services encompass access control, CCTV and alarm systems, as well as locks and master key systems for large properties and landlords, both big and small. Our mission remains to provide efficient, economical, and personalised security services to discerning clients. Meet Phil: Leading Benn Lock and Safe into a secure future
Phil joined Benn Security Services Ltd in June 2000 as a trainee Alarm and CCTV engineer. Within two years, Richard sold half the business to a large national alarm company and began transitioning away from alarm engineering services, CCTV and access control and had to change the name to Benn Lock and Safe. Phil moved away from the family business and over the next eight years, Phil broadened his expertise in door entry systems (access control), alarms, and CCTV, working on security projects for well-known companies such as supermarkets, commercial retail outlets and car showrooms.
In 2010, Phil returned to Benn Lock and Safe full-time as a lead technical engineer, aiming to expand the business to serve both domestic and commercial customers. Under his leadership, the engineering department has reached new heights, now offering services to various government sectors, schools, the NHS, and block management companies across East Anglia, supported by a team of skilled engineers he has personally trained.
Phil’s dedication and expertise were recognised in 2016 when he became the third Director of Benn Lock and Safe. By 2022, with the retirement of the company’s founders, Phil embraced the role of Managing Director. He remains committed to providing comprehensive solutions for door entry systems, alarm systems, CCTV installations, and locksmith services, maintaining a strong relationship with a loyal customer base.
In addition to serving trade and public customers through a walk-in service offering door locks, window locks, key cutting, car transponder fob services, and security safes with professional installation, the company’s shop is located at 13 St David’s Square, Fengate, Peterborough PE1 5QA.
Recently, Phil has embarked on expanding Benn Lock and Safe’s reach through an e-commerce platform, supplying quality security hardware across England, Wales, and Scotland.
